Dry Cupping
is a treatment modality that has been around since the beginning of the 20th century where analgesics, corticosteroids and saline were injected into myofascial trigger points to reduce pain in the area. It was then discovered that it was the insertion of the needle itself, rather than what was being injected, that was effective. And so, dry needling became a modality in its own right.

Like with acupuncture, very thin needles are inserted into the body to stimulate a response. With dry needling the tight muscle, which is usually hypersensitive and often painful, is targeted to elicit a response from the nervous system, often in the form of a twitch, which turns down the tension and desensitises the area.

As with massage, there is an increase in blood flow to the area and a feeling of relaxation is often invoked. At the moment I am incorporating Dry Needling into my treatments, alongside massage, but if it is something you would like a standalone treatment for then this can arranged, just let me know when making your booking.
